American Funds' parent Capital Group announced that veteran manager Gregory Wendt will relinquish his role as lead principal investment officer, who is in charge of allocating capital across the management team, on July 1, 2024. Wendt will remain as a manager, though this paves the way for his eventual retirement. Julian Abdey will take over as lead PIO after serving as co-PIO for more than five years. Meanwhile, Bradford Freer will transition into the PIO position in July to replace Wendt on his subsidiary Capital Research Global Investors. Dimitrije Mitrinovic serves as the strategy’s third PIO. All three PIOs have a similar investment mindset, which helps ensure continuity. Because of this, Wendt's stepping down as lead PIO—and the moves associated with it—does not alter the strategy's High People rating or its Morningstar Medalist Ratings.
