Cisco, Nutanix partner on simplified hybrid multicloud
Network giant Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) and Nutanix Inc. (NTNX) announced a partnership late Monday that is intended to simplify businesses transitions into multicloud systems. Nutanix provides hyperconverged infrastructure, which essentially combines computer storage and servers in a hybrid-cloud product, allowing businesses to access on-site computing power as well as public-cloud assets. Cisco said it will sell the Nutanix Cloud Platform through its managed computing and networking infrastructure business, "using its extensive go-to-market reach." Nutanix said that the "partnership will deliver an expanded market opportunity for both organizations as they tackle the challenges of standardizing, simplifying, and securing environments across the data center, in public cloud and the edge." Shares of Cisco were up less than 0.1% after hours, which Nutanix shares rose 0.8%.
