Nippon Steel Deal Review Pushed Past U.S. Election, Bloomberg Reports
--Japan's Nippon Steel has been granted permission by a U.S. security panel to refile its proposal to buy U.S. Steel, pushing the government's review of the politically contentious acquisition past the U.S. elections, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
--According to Bloomberg the extension keeps the proposed transaction alive after President Joe Biden vowed to kill it and keep the domestic steelmaker American-owned.
--Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have also said they oppose the takeover, Bloomberg said.
