Safran Contemplates Acquisition of U.S Repair Specialist CRT
By Nina Kienle
Safran Aircraft Engine said it is considering the acquisition of U.S. Component Repair Technologies, known as CRT.
The French aerospace-industry supplier said Tuesday that the potential acquisition of CRT--a specialist in the repair of aircraft engine parts--would support the expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in the Americas.
"Our strategy includes major investments at all our current facilities, plus the construction of new facilities," Chief Executive Jean-Paul Alary said. "With this ambitious ramp-up, Safran Aircraft Engines will proactively support the rapidly growing global fleet of LEAP-powered airplanes."
CRT has more than 450 employees and specializes in the repair of large parts for CFM56, LEAP and large turbofan engines.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close by the end of 2024, the company said.
Financial details weren't disclosed.
