Trending: Starbucks Names Brian Niccol Chief Executive
10:21 ET -- Starbucks is one of the most mentioned companies in the U.S. across all news items in the past 12 hours, according to Factiva data. Starbucks replaced Chief Executive Laxman Narasimhan with Chipotle Mexican Grill CEO Brian Niccol. Starbucks said in an interview on Tuesday that it started discussing a leadership change about two months ago. Narasimhan, who joined the coffee chain less than a year and a half ago, will step down as CEO and board director immediately. Mellody Hobson, Starbucks' executive chairwoman since 2021, will become the lead independent director. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva. (chris.wack@wsj.com)
