Booking.com Submits Commitments in Italy Market Abuse Probe
By Helena Smolak
Booking.com issued commitments to stop considering competitor pricing when promoting their offers on its platform, in response to the Italian watchdog's continuing investigation into the online travel company.
The competition regulator, AGCM, launched an probe in March into Booking.com, part of the U.S. company Booking Holdings, saying it lowered accommodation prices on its platform without permission from hotels when a competitor offered a better price elsewhere, potentially stifling competition in the market.
AGCM said Thursday that interested parties have until September 13 to submit their feedback. The regulator will then decide whether to approve Booking.com's issued commitments.
Booking.com didn't immediately respond when requested for comment by Dow Jones Newswires.
