GoTo Launches Bahasa Indonesia AI Fintech Voice Assistant
By Kimberley Kao
GoTo Gojek Tokopedia has launched what it said is the first artificial-intelligence-based fintech voice assistant in Indonesia's most widely spoken language.
The Indonesia-based ride-hailing and e-commerce company said Tuesday that the voice assistant is accessible on its GoPay fintech app for a limited number of users. The feature, known as Dira, an abbreviation of "dikte suara," which means voice dictation, allows users to perform various tasks, such as navigating the app more quickly via voice commands.
In the future, GoTo plans to roll out the feature on its Gojek app, which allows users to book rides and deliveries, among other services, it said.
GoTo, which operates heavily in Indonesia, a country of more than 270 million people in which Bahasa Indonesia is the most common language, said the voice assistant is part of a larger strategy to develop AI features across its business, without elaborating.
The company said it had almost 51 million annual transacting users at the end of 2023.
GoTo's AI announcement came two months after rival Grab Holdings partnered with U.S.-based OpenAI to integrate AI across its business as part of a cost-cutting strategy.
