Motorola, Google Cloud Enter Multiyear Deal for Generative AI in Phones
By Chris Wack
Motorola and Google Cloud entered into a new multiyear relationship to bring generative AI to Motorola phones.
The companies are integrating Moto ai technology, built using Google Cloud Vertex AI, Gemini, and Imagen models, on Motorola phones.
Moto ai is expected to be integrated across native smartphone applications, and would provide users the ability to complete tasks, provide relevant suggestions and reminders, and summarize and recall information.
Moto ai would be used in the phones everywhere from the camera to battery to display and device performance, the companies said.
Moto ai is available immediately on the new lineup of razr phones in select countries within Latin American and Europe, and available for pre-order in North America, India and select countries in Asia Pacific in the coming weeks.
Motorola Mobility was purchased by Lenovo Group Holdings in 2014. Google owned Motorola Mobility from 2012 to 2014 and became a unit of Alphabet Inc. in 2015.
