The Week Ahead: Netflix, GE Report as Earnings Heat Up

Jeremy Glaser: For Morningstar, I'm Jeremy Glaser, and welcome to The Week Ahead.

Earnings seasons will be in full swing this week. We'll get some more bank earnings with reports expected by Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, US Bank, and American Express.

Netflix reports on Wednesday. The firm beat its own low guidance last quarter, and shares have been sharply higher over the last three months. Morningstar analyst Neil Macker though is more cautious as over the long-term. He thinks an inability to raise prices while having to invest more in content could lead to weaker margins.

Other earnings include railroads CSX and Union Pacific and General Electric.

On the data side, we'll be looking out for the consumer price index to get a sense of any building inflationary pressures. Industrial production, housing

and the Fed's Beige Book will also be eyed.
