Similarly, the system relies on new contributions and strong returns to mask outflows and help keep participant fees down. In this report, we take a deep dive into the overall health of the U.S. retirement system and cast a light on its weaknesses. Expanding access to employer-sponsored retirement plans is essential to ensuring Americans are saving enough for the future, but it’s also essential to make sure the current system addresses its weakness to not lose ground.
